[2012 RTW] Fashion Week Favorite: J.Mendel

Right out of the gate Gilles Mendel caught my attention with his first three looks. His signature furs looked soft in their bright whites. Along with the furs, Mendel always ends his collection with gowns. My favorite: the above with architectural cutouts along the waist with bands of gold. I loved the neutral color story of the entire collection. If only I had the budget for his beautiful pieces....

I want to share with you a few of my favorite collections from #NYFW this week...I'm a little behind...but better late than never?
As I only attended one show, I was on Style.com' iphone app every night before bed. It is an AMAZING tool to go through every look from each collection (even my mom uses it!) and really get into each designers head. Today's focus is on 3.1 Phillip Lim. I am obsessed with this strong collection full of high contrast looks. The combination of soft (white) and hard (black) is on point. The collection is powerful and extremely wearable. Now here's a strong statement: it might actually be my favorite collection from the week!

I got a small taste of #NYFW yesterday at the Nanette Lepore show. Running uptown from my office, I made it with plenty of time to survey the scene and swipe a seat towards the back of the tent. Nanette put on another fun show. She carries her neons and prints well into the fall, which were loud and cozzy. Who wouldn't want a flame wool jacket for the fall? A few favorite looks are above. She fell short on some fabrics and prints, but there are some staple/wearable pieces I believe buyers will be fighting for to get in their stores.

Style Obsession: the collared shirt

collared shirts

I have been pulling out those old oxfords and rocking the collared look for the last few weeks...buttoning up all the way and folding down. It is a cool way to sport your oxfords. I def want my next purchase to be one of these numbers above...I'm loving the white tops with a touch of black...

I first talked about my obsession with collar necklaces in my first street style post seen here. I have been wanting the neon one (above) from BaubleBar for the last few weeks...and finally it has been lifted off the wait list! Ordered..and now I just have to wait patiently until delivery in April. The collar look is not only taking over in accessories, but in clothing too...stay tuned!

Street Style: Popcorn

Sweater: Zara Pants: Joe's Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell (similar style here) Jewelry: Marc Jacobs Watch, Assorted Bangles, Vintage Ring, Unkown Necklace
When I walked into Zara a few months ago with my friend Jen...I went directly up to this sweater that was displayed at the front of the store. She talked me into it and I LOVE it. It is so fun. When I wear it to work, my co-worker calls it my popcorn sweater. Ever since he named my purchase, I can't get it outta my head. I want a few more sweaters like this one...bc who doesn't love a big comfy sweater?
